1 ml - how much is it in grams and drops? Why do you need to know the answer to this question? Instructions for medicines, culinary recipes or just everyday needs often lead to the need to measure the amount of liquid and solid substances in different units of measurement - milliliters, grams or drops. Medicines almost always come with measuring cups and pipettes, but they are not very convenient and often get lost.
How to understand these units and get the required amount of substance correctly? 1 ml - how much? How many drops are contained in 1 ml of this or that solution? How many grams are in 1 ml of water and other liquids?
Volume
A milliliter is a unit of volume, corresponding to one cubic centimeter. For pure water without impurities, everything is simple here: 1 ml of water is 1 gram by mass. But for other substances that have a different density and composition, this correspondence will be expressed somewhat differently.
You can easily measure the required amount of liquid in milliliters using a syringe. 1 ml on a syringe scale is called a “cube” or “cube” in medical slang. So a possible answer to the question: “How much is 1 ml?” - sounds like this: “This is 1 “cube” on the syringe.”

Weight
Gram is a unit of measurement of mass. The standard of comparison here was pure water. So, 1 ml of water is equal to 1 gram. How many grams are in 1 ml of other substances? To answer, you need to know their densities.
Density is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the volume it occupies. In this case, the mass is calculated using a simple formula: m = pV (where p is density and V is volume).
When making calculations, it is also worth considering that density is inversely related to ambient temperature. The higher the temperature, the lower the density, since a substance expands when heated, increasing its volume, but without changing its mass. In reference tables with densities, as a rule, it is indicated what temperature the given indicators correspond to.
So, for example, the density of ethyl alcohol is 0.789 g/cm3 at room temperature, which means the mass of this substance in 1 ml will be 0.789 g.
Using the same formula, you can determine the mass or volume of bulk products.

Drops
To understand how many drops are in 1 ml of solution, you first need to decide what a drop is.
A drop is a small (or minimal) volume of a liquid substance, whose shape and boundaries are determined by the influence of surface tension. The drops are spherical or oval in shape.
The drop itself is a fairly approximate unit. And it is clear to the naked eye that drops of even one substance can be different in size, and therefore in the volume of the solution in them. To avoid large errors, doctors and pharmacists decided to take a drop volume of 0.05 ml as the standard. Based on this, 1 ml corresponds to 20 drops. This is approximately how many drops are contained in 1 ml of aqueous solution.
By multiplying the volume by 20, you can find out the number of drops in this volume. Conversely, knowing the number of drops, you can find out the volume of a particular liquid. To do this, the number of drops should be divided by 20.
But even such a calculation will be quite rough, and it is suitable mainly for aqueous compositions. For alcohol solutions and tinctures, 1 ml is about 50 drops, and for essential oils - about 10-15 drops.
