This wise folk game has firmly entered our everyday life. Its age is very respectable - at least 5 thousand years. As an intellectual sport, checkers has become a recognized part of human culture. Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget and a number of other scientists have established that it is at the age of 5-12 years that the “thought-word” and “thought-action” mechanisms are formed in children. In this regard, checkers are a good aid in developing children’s thinking abilities and reinforcing the fruits of thinking with actions. Experience of working with children shows that checkers have a beneficial effect on their studies, expand the interests of children, strengthen and develop the best qualities of character. Checkers help instill in children discipline, perseverance, the ability to concentrate and think logically. The idea of ​​the program:

Purpose of the program

Relevance It
is generally accepted that checkers is not only an intellectual sport between rivals, but also a method and subject for the development of intellectual thinking of a person, especially a child.
For the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the development of early children's chess and checkers is even more important due to the fact that in the harsh northern climate, primary school students are forced to spend about 70% of their active time per year indoors (at home, school and other places), spending a lot of time watching TV shows, videos and playing computer games, some of which are generally harmful to their mental and intellectual development.
