Ground troops
The tasks of this type of troops include conducting combat operations, as well as protecting the state border on land. Military service is difficult and dangerous work. However, despite this, actions of a combat nature can be very different, therefore the entire ground army of the Russian Federation is divided into the following troops.
Rocket Forces
This group also includes all kinds of artillery. This branch of troops is intended to destroy enemy deployments at the maximum permissible distance. The most modern installations, such as GRAD, have enormous destructive power, the radius of which extends over several tens of kilometers.
Rice. 2. Tank T-80U
Tank forces
These include all military equipment that moves on tracks or wheels, has high maneuverability and is able to fire from both small arms and strike weapons. At the moment, the main striking power of these troops consists of tanks, armored personnel carriers (APCs), infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and combat reconnaissance and patrol vehicles (BRVMs).
In 2022, our country has 3,030 tanks in service, and another 10,200 units are in storage.
Motorized rifle troops
In more understandable terms, this is infantry. Its main task is to conduct combat operations while in direct contact with the enemy. They play a special role when the war is taking place on the territory of one’s own state and there is no possibility of using nuclear weapons. Motorized rifle troops are distinguished by good maneuverability and mobility, ideal for full-scale independent battles and as part of other types of troops, thereby increasing their effectiveness. Due to the presence of mechanical vehicles, motorized rifle troops can quickly change their deployment, battle tactics, and alternate maneuvers and direct attacks of the enemy in an extremely short time.
Rice. 3. Tank T-72B3
Air defense
Air defense - missile defense. This branch of the military includes modern installations and innovative technologies. The tasks of air defense include ensuring the country's security from an enemy nuclear strike.
The principle of operation of missile defense is as follows: if there is a threat of a nuclear warhead hitting the territory of the Russian Federation, prevent this, that is, shoot down the missile in the air before it crosses the country’s airspace. Thus, radioactive particles will not cause damage to citizens.
Special Forces
In addition to how to wage a war, it is necessary to supply the army with everything necessary and destroy gangs. This is the main goal of such troops. These include: engineering troops, electronic warfare troops (EW), Special Forces Units (SPETSNAZ), Main Communications Directorate (GUS), automobile troops, railway troops, chemical and biological defense troops, as well as automobile troops. Each unit performs only the task assigned to it. For example:
are responsible for the functioning of the railway network in all corners of the country.
are responsible for blocking all radio signals. This is intended to prevent the detonator from being activated at a distance in the event of an explosion threat.
This branch of the military also includes military intelligence, which must strictly monitor the border. Prevent enemy troops or terrorist groups from crossing the border.
Rice. 4. Su-30SM fighters
Report to the project:
Any country needs a strong and combat-ready army to protect its own borders and sovereignty, so that all citizens live in peace and tranquility.
Our army is one of the largest in the world, with more than 900 thousand people serving in it and about 2.5 million more people in reserve.
Russian Armed Forces
The Russian Army is divided into three main types of troops: ground forces, navy and military space forces.
- Russian ground forces are designed to operate on land.
They are capable of protecting our borders, repelling enemy attacks, and conducting defensive and offensive operations in any region. The main branches of the ground forces are infantry, artillery, and tank forces.
- The Russian Navy ensures our security at sea.
It includes various ships and submarines. Our military personnel serve in the Baltic, Black Seas, Arctic and Pacific oceans. They guard the country's maritime borders.
- The Russian military space forces protect the sky above our heads.
They include both airplanes and other aviation, as well as spacecraft. They protect the peace of our Motherland in the air and are capable of repelling any attack involving missiles and aircraft.
Armed Forces Command
At the head of our country's army is the president. He is the supreme commander. Currently it is Vladimir Putin.
The Minister of Defense directly supervises all branches of the military. Now this is Sergei Shoigu.
Today our army is one of the most highly equipped and powerful in the world. She is capable of solving any tasks that the command puts before her.
But her main task is to protect us, ordinary citizens. Give us the opportunity to live peacefully and not fear for our lives.
Holidays
The Russian army has long traditions. Although it was formed directly as a Russian one on May 7, 1992.
We are proud of its glorious history and honor the memory of all the heroes who defended our country at different times.
The main holiday of the Russian Army is Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is celebrated annually on February 23.
Also important holidays of the Armed Forces are:
- May 7 is the day of the creation of the Armed Forces.
- April 12 - Aviation and Cosmonautics Day
- May 28 - Border Guard Day
- August 2 - Airborne Forces Day
- November 15 is All-Russian Conscript Day
Conclusion:
Our army is the stronghold and guarantor of the security of our country. She protects us, and we are proud of our protectors. Knowing that our soldiers are always on duty at the borders of the Motherland, we can study and work calmly.
Composition of the Russian Armed Forces
Today the Russian army numbers about 2 million people. Due to the fact that the threat of armed conflict can come from anywhere in the world, the army of the Russian Federation is divided into several branches:
- Land.
- Marine.
- Airborne.
Each of them has several dozen more units. Let's look at them in more detail.
Rice. 1. Su-25 attack aircraft
Marine
The task of this type of troops is to conduct combat operations in the waters of the country. These troops are needed only by those states that have access to the sea or ocean. Depending on the nature of the upcoming actions, they are also divided into several divisions.
Naval aviation
The main deployment point for this technology is aircraft carriers - huge ships capable of carrying more than 10 aircraft. Its task, like that of ground aviation, is to carry out air strikes against the enemy.
Special and auxiliary troops
There are similar troops on land. The only difference between them is the location of combat missions. If on land these are structures that have been attacked or captured, then at sea these are the depths of the seas and oceans.
Surface
Mainly made up of ships. Their task is to destroy enemy ships, as well as support ground forces with fire.
Rice. 7. Heavy nuclear cruiser "Orlan"
Underwater
This class includes submarines. In the Russian army they are atomic, which means that they have a power reserve of several years. Thus, there is no need to surface to refuel. The main task of submarines is to deliver a nuclear strike and destroy enemy ships.
Due to the fact that submarines are capable of diving to significant depths, radars do not see them. Consequently, it becomes possible to get as close as possible to enemy territory, so that if there is a threat of an attack on their territory, they can be the first to strike.
Important! This was the situation during the Cold War, when the USSR and the USA competed in an arms race. The Russian submarine was located off the very coast of America, so it could strike several times faster than a missile fired from the United States would reach the Soviet Union.
Coastal troops
The main task of these troops is to sink enemy ships from land using artillery installations.
Marines
The Marine Corps is the aquatic analogue of the Airborne Forces. Performs tasks that are secret or particularly complex. The military of this unit lands at a certain point with the help of special ships or vehicles that can swim on water and drive on land.
Rice. 8. Tracklayer BAT-2
Structure of the Russian Army
The Russian army began under Peter the Great, and since then it has been constantly modernized. The exact date of the appearance of the army is not known, but at all times it was believed that the only factor that distinguishes the army from other structures is iron discipline. A clear hierarchy has been established in the Russian Armed Forces. In this regard, there are various titles. The lowest is private. The highest is the Minister of Defense (MoD). It is the Defense Ministry that leads the entire army, reforms it or corrects its actions. Maintaining physical and moral condition is the key to the combat effectiveness of the army. Proper nutrition also plays a significant role. In this regard, soldiers who decide to devote themselves to defending the Motherland are not fed haphazardly. In addition, each branch of the military has its own unique uniform, both ceremonial and field. The competent organization of the armed forces is the key to security and the preservation of sovereignty and the position of borders for many years. That is why the army is clearly structured and everyone performs their functions in it, corresponding to their skills, rank and authority. Air Forces
VVS - military air forces. Designed to conduct combat operations in airspace. These include: aerial reconnaissance, airstrikes against the enemy and delivery of troops to a certain point.
Important! Today, the Russian Air Force has more than 30 aircraft of various classes and purposes.
Just like ground forces, air forces are divided into several units.
Aviation
It constitutes the main strength of the Russian army and carries out strategically important combat missions in a short period of time. To achieve certain purposes, special equipment is used:
- Attack aircraft
. The main task of this class of equipment is to strike clusters of enemies. For this purpose, unguided rockets (NURS), machine guns and rockets are used. - Bomber.
This type of aviation appeared a long time ago, but its task has not changed since then. The main unit of bomber aviation is aircraft that carry various types of bombs on board. - Army.
Such aviation includes not only small aircraft, but also unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Their main task is to fly around specified points or conduct surveillance at low altitude. - Intelligence
. Aviation of this class includes both reconnaissance aircraft and helicopters. The most famous is the MI-24M helicopter, called the “Night Hunter”. This aircraft can be: high-altitude, multi-purpose, sea or unmanned. - Military transport aviation
. Designed to carry cargo or troops on board over long distances. Vivid examples are the IL-76 aircraft and the MI-8 helicopter. - Special.
This class of aviation is intended for specific purposes: these include refueling aircraft and radio-technical aircraft.
Rice. 5. Tu-160 aircraft
Space Force
This class of troops has a single task - tracking celestial bodies. If there is a threat of a meteorite, asteroid or comet colliding with the Earth, then it is these soldiers who bear all the responsibility. In order to save the life of an entire planet, ultra-precise calculations are required. All organizational issues must be resolved quickly.
Special troops
Special troops are designed to conduct special operations in enemy airspace. Thanks to these troops, the activities of enemy troops in the rear, coordination, and the destruction of ground-based precision weapons are disrupted. These include the Airborne Forces - airborne troops. They are considered the elite of the Russian army and are deployed in more than 15 points of the country.
This group also includes airfield engineering and meteorological troops.
Rice. 6. Missile cruiser "Peter the Great"
